How do you put an Comcast Xfinity Arris tg862g/ct into full bridge mode?
Printer-friendly versionPDF version

I have a Comcast provided cable modem. It's an Arris tg862g/ct model. I've logged into the web interface and into the advanced section, but I can't find a way to place the modem in full bridged mode so I can use my own router or wifi. Does anyone know how to put this comcast modem in bridge mode?

You can't enable bridge mode

You can't enable bridge mode on your own. Only Comcast support has access to the interface that can enable bridge mode. The easiest way to contact them and have them enable full bridge mode (within 15 minutes), is by using their online chat. You'll need the account number and the phone number associated with the account. Here is the link to their chat site:

https://www.comcastsupport.com/

Click on Trouble > Internet > Other

Or just go to this direct link:

They will have you verify the modem is in bridge mode by making sure the wifi light is off when they are done. You can also verify it is in bridge mode by connecting your pc directly to port 1 on the modem (your nic needs to be set to obtain an IP address automatically). You should pull a public IP.
