How to Fix RIP Address Out Of Range Error When Installing Server 2008 R2
Submitted by ingram on Wed, 08/17/2016 - 8:09am

I have primarily seen this error on HP Proliant Gen 9 Servers when installing an operating system pre-Server 2012, such as Server 2008 R2. The error may display several messages that may not mean a lot to you, such as:
X64 Exception Type 0D - General Protection Exception
RIP Address Out Of Range
CALL ImageBase ImageName+OFFset
The most likely time you will see this error is when booting to a Server 2008 R2 installation disc.
To resolve this error, in the bios, disable the following setting:
UEFI Optimized Boot

Thank you very much! You rescued me a Weekend! Because I have to install the Backup for the Server till Suday. This error happend after installing the SAS Controller for LTO6. Operation System is 2012 R2. After the Change diabled UEFI Optimized Boot we had the Problem we think with the boot Manager from Windows. We changed the bootorder that the Array Controller is before the Windows boot Manager.
Best regards
Roland
